Super fab, totally outstanding art glass paperweight by John Lewis, circa 1979. This weight is decorated with Lewis's iconic moonscape design, rendered in silver, platinum, pale blue, pale green...a very mercury slick, metallic example of this imagery. Great 19th century paperweight from an unknown maker...probably Bohemian, possibly French in origin. Very intriguing squat paperweight featuring an internal decoration of four thick murrine/millefiori cane slices (blue w/white and green w/white) surrounding a central chunk of mica with scattered flakes that add a lot of sparkle. Six pedaled flower from crimson to white to violet. Central bubble and placed on emerald carpet. These pieces were made by Steuben workers after hours and during breaks between 1920 and 1945. This particular piece is attributed to Paul Holton. Approximately three inches high. Some very superficial scratches do not detract from the beauty of this weight. See examples from the Bergstrom Museum for similar pieces.
