Measuring an overall 4' 8" (56 inches--1.42 meters) in length, and about 14" diameter (.36 meters), this rare, impressive, and spectacular art glass chandelier was made between 1946 and 1965, in Murano, Italy, by the Venini glasshouse; the three-line signature is impressed into the ceiling piece and reads, "Venini, Murano, Made in Italy" or "...Italia." The fixture is composed of a circular series of double and single 14.5" long x 2" diameter shimmering quarter-inch thick art glass cylinders which are hung from, and attached together vertically by metal chains and rods. The cylinders each have narrow, flat "wings" attached on either side which extend the full length of the cylinders adding interest to the shape, and probably creating stability. The cylinders are clear, smooth, heavily included crystal which gradually changes to amber. In near-perfect condition (a few very minor interior rim flakes on a few pieces, probably caused during original grinding, and some from normal friction); this piece has been hanging in the same house since the '60s, Boston, and is now being stored in Washington D.C. $500 Shipping & Handling, or may be obtained directly from Washington D.C.
